Homework where learning is the point.
Students teach Sam, an AI student with wrong ideas about your course material. He only learns what they explain. When he sits his exam, everyone sees which ideas got through and which didn't.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
AI made homework easy to finish without learning.
In a 2026 study of 26,811 students, homework scores rose after AI adoption while closed-book exam scores fell. The losses were concentrated among students who used AI to finish homework fast. Students who kept putting in the time lost little.
After generative AI adoption, homework scores rose by 18% while monthly closed-book exam scores fell by 20% within six months, across 26,811 secondary students.

Sam only learns what students explain.
Upload the material.
PDF, pasted text or a YouTube link. This sets what Sam can learn.
Sam starts out wrong.
Axiom Flow builds a set of misconceptions from the material. Sam believes all of them.
Students teach, one idea at a time.
Sam asks questions when an explanation is thin. He can't look anything up.
Sam sits a short exam.
He answers using only what he was taught. The result shows which ideas transferred, with a small score for the gradebook.
Watch a student teach Sam and see where his ideas go wrong.
What students get, what teachers see.
For students
A reason to explain instead of reread.
Feedback that names the exact ideas that didn't land, and why.
Freedom to use any AI tool to understand the material first.

For teachers
The full teaching conversation for every student.
How each explanation changed over the session.
Which misconceptions Sam still held at the end, for each student, so you know what to reteach.
Scores calculated automatically, with nothing to grade by hand.

I think the moon is like a smaller sun. It makes its own light at night.
Actually, the moon reflects the sun's light back to Earth.
Oh! So the moon is like a giant mirror reflecting the sun? That makes so much sense now.
A learning task, not an exam.
Many universities now separate secure assessments that verify mastery from open tasks that help students learn with AI. Axiom Flow belongs in the second group. Use supervised exams for the high-stakes grade. Use Axiom Flow to make sure students actually do the learning before they get there.

If you cannot explain something in simple terms, you don't understand it. The best way to learn is to teach.

Why teaching works
Teaching produces deeper learning than studying alone. Sam, your AI teachable agent, is built to trigger that effect.
Three findings from learning science.
Students work harder for an agent they teach.
Students put more effort into learning for a digital agent they taught than they did for themselves, and learned more as a result.
Citation: Chase et al., 2009Expecting to teach changes how you study.
Learners who expected to teach recalled more and organised it better than those expecting a test.
Citation: Nestojko et al., 2014, Memory & CognitionThe tutee's questions do the work.
Tutors tend to summarise. Questions from the learner push them into real explanation, which is why Sam asks.
Citation: Roscoe & Chi, 2007, Review of Educational ResearchHow student teaching drives learning
Sam turns homework into active explanation instead of rereading.

Diagnose & correct misconceptions
100 students at the University of Peradeniya put Sam to the test.
“I love teaching Sam and how it surprises me pointing out the things that even I didn't know that I don't know about the topic.”
Peradeniya Student86.5%
“Did teaching Sam help you understand the topic better than studying alone?”
Answered 'Yes'.
88.4%
“How does Axiom Flow compare to a regular quiz or assignment?”
Answered 'Better' or 'Much better'.
61.5%
“Did the final score feel like a fair reflection of how well you understood the topic?”
Answered 'Yes' (with another 30.8% answering 'Not sure').
We keep the score low-stakes, and the survey is why: the feedback is what students valued most.
Works For Any Subject
You Can Explain
Biology, law, economics, or anything else: Axiom Flow builds a subject-specific version of Sam for your material, complete with realistic misconceptions for that field.
Biology
Sam confuses mitosis with meiosis. Can you diagnose his conceptual gap?
Spot the misconception Sam holds
Walk Sam through cell division
Find the step Sam keeps missing
Law
Sam misapplies a binding precedent. Correct his legal reasoning.
Explain the precedent in plain words
Rebuild the argument step by step
Show Sam where the reasoning slips
Economics
Sam gets the supply curve backwards. Spot the flaw in his market logic.
Fix the backwards curve
Talk through the maths
Explain why prices move
Works across disciplines
Getting the most out of it
Weight it lightly.
Treat it like participation or a small formative task. Enough to count, not enough to be worth outsourcing.
Place it well.
A short session after each lecture works well. Keep them small, around five misconceptions, so the workload stays reasonable.
Use what it shows you.
Check which misconceptions Sam still held in your students' reports, and reteach those.

Frequently Asked
Questions
What is Axiom Flow?
Axiom Flow is a learning-by-teaching platform for coursework. Students teach Sam, an AI student who starts with misconceptions about the course material. Sam then takes a short exam using only what he was taught. Students and teachers see which ideas transferred, and the result can count as a small grade.
Is this formative or summative assessment?
Formative. The score is designed to be low-stakes, like participation. For high-stakes grades we recommend supervised assessment.
Can students use ChatGPT or other AI?
Yes. They can use any tool to understand the material. Pasting into the chat is blocked, so the explanation Sam hears is typed by the student.
Can a student get AI to do it for them?
Yes, the same as any homework. That's why we recommend a low weighting. Axiom Flow is built for students who want to learn, and it shows teachers what those students still get wrong.
How is this different from a quiz?
A quiz asks students to pick an answer. Axiom Flow asks them to explain an idea well enough for someone else to use it. Gaps show up that a quiz would miss.
What material does it work with?
PDF lecture notes, pasted text and YouTube links. The material sets what Sam can learn.
Try it in one of your courses.
We'll run a 20-minute demo on your own course material.
